Golfers hit a hole in one for Five Stars
Fri 3rd Oct 08 - 10:25
Manchester professionals got into the swing of things at a charity golf event which raised more than £10,000 for the Five Stars Scanner Appeal.
The event, which took place at Mere Golf and Country Club was organised by Morpheus Investments and saw 52 people from across the region compete on the fairway.
Derek Hatton, director of Morpheus Investments, said:
“The Five Stars Scanner Appeal is doing a brilliant job raising £1 million for an MRI scanner to go into the New Children’s Hospital and we wanted to do our bit to help them with the last push.
“We all had an amazing time at the golf day and saw some raw talent on the golf course that would rival Tiger Woods.”
13 teams of golfers took part in the golf day on Tuesday, 16 September which was won by a team put together by the Manchester Evening News which included Mark Rix, Frank Stretton, Richard Rycroft, and Philip Middlemiss. The golf was followed by dinner, entertainment and a charity auction.
Charmaine Wilkinson, appeals director from Five Stars Scanner Appeal said:
“We’re so grateful to Morpheus Investments for their support and to everyone else who helped out and donated on the day. The £10,000 puts us another step closer to our target to buy this critical piece of life saving equipment.”
